AXIS PRECISION LTD PENYGROES & DISTRICT NETBALL LEAGUE

Seven years since forming, one of Gwynedd's most progressive indoor sport competitions continues ro rise from strength to strength.

This season has seen the Axis Precision Ltd Penygroes & District Women's Netball League operate with an all-time high 21 teams. Almost 200 women compete weekly on league nights held every Tuesday and Wednesday at Plas Silyn Leisure Centre, Penygroes.

Axis Precision Ltd is continuing to sponsor the league as they have done so for the last seven years since it was founded.

COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE - CMM  

Axis Precision has installed a Coordinate measuring machine.

The CMM is a high precision and accuracy machine which precisely record the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the target. Points are generated which can then be analyzed for acuaracy of the manufactured components.

The CMM can be programmed to repeatedly measure identical parts and critical reports can be prioduced for customers to veryfy dimensions and geometrical tolerancing.

MACH 2014  

Axis Precision "shut up shop" for the day to attend the UK's largest event for Manufacturing Technologies.

Not only was this a good oportunity for Axis Precision to meet new suppliers and customers, but it also helped to inspire new thoughts and ideas from all of the team.

One lucky Axis team member came away with a new ipad after winning a draw on the Fluid Power stand.

NEW - WORKHOLDING SYSTEMS

To reduce setup times, Axis Precision has invested in a new workholding system by LANG tooling.

The LANG Makro-Grip system offers exceptional secure holding for high performance milling with optimal access for 5 face machining, clamping on only 2 or 3 mm of material.


The new workholding will compliment  the new and existing trunnion tables, allowing Axis Precision Machine up to five sides of a part, and easily program the control to reach virtually any compound angle. This will also eliminate second and third operations and setups making Axis Precision Ltd more efficient in minimising downtime and maximising output.

NEW - KNOWLODGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIP - sKTP

Following from the success of the Classic KTP, Axis Precision is now undertaking a Shorter KTP – to enhance on the foundations laid by the Classic KTP.

This contunuation of the KTP will improve on the manufacturing systems and processes currently in place, by developing and implementing a leading and innovative design and manufacturing facility. This will be done by introducing a total manufacturing system that will control all aspects of production scheduling, resource planning and material requirements. This will compliment the companys Quality system by supporting the company in gaining efficiencies within the manufaturing, scheduling and purchasing departments.

The aim will be to increase capacity and increase value added contribution per person at Axis Precision, which will result in an improvement in companywide manufacturing efficiency, and quality.

KNOWLODGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIP - CLASSIC KTP

The Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Grwp Llandrillo Menai and Axis Precision Ltd was awarded the highest grade of “Outstanding” by the KTP Grading Panel for its achievement in meeting KTP’s Objectives.

NEW HAAS 4th AXIS ROTARY TABLE  

For speed and quality Axis have recently added another 12" Rotary Table to its collection.

Axis Precision now have 3 HAAS rotary tables which gives Axis the capability of improving the manufacturing process by accessing multiple workpiece faces in one clamping.

The rotary tables can provide a solution for rotating and indexing small workpieces to large workpieces, for vertical and horizontal applications, for 4 axis and 5 axis work and for manual and automated applications.

12 MONTHS LATER

It’s been 12 months since Axis Precision Ltd re-located to its new larger, state of the art premises and proved that it’s not all doom and gloom for Welsh Manufacturing.  

Axis Precision Ltd. now based in Llandygai Industrial Estate Bangor, were established in 2001 and specialise in CNC machining of high volume precision components for Medical, MoD, Industrial Safety, Aerospace, Optronic, and many other industry sectors. Axis strives on providing speed and quality of service with technical excellence and reliability that conforms to ISO 9001.

Since the move last year Axis have created three new jobs and have invested over £250,000 in new production equipment with a further investment planned for new hardware and software over the next twelve months. 

Axis have embarked on a business improvement programme to introduce new and innovative leaner manufacturing processes, resulting in new capabilities that have enabled them to increase their capacity to support their clients manufacturing needs. 

Axis have also embarked on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership in collaboration with CAM of Coleg Menai, enabling them to gain access to experts support, by offering innovative solutions to increase the competitiveness and efficiency of the company. This also enables Axis to focus their attention on improving their manufacturing processes and implementing a new product design service for their clients. 

Axis Precision’s innovative strategy to lean thinking and methodology reduces waste and optimizes productivity through maintaining a systematic workplace to achieve consistency and quality in their services. 

The new CAD/CAM software enables Axis to reduce time in developing and generating operational processes, resulting in reduced downtime, cost and turnaround from quotation to delivery. 

The machining centres are of the highest specification and provide accuracy, rigidity and thermal stability required for high-precision sub-contract machining services. Each machine features a generous work envelope with modular work holding, fixtures with 4th Axis capabilities and up to 12,000 rpm spindle speeds. 

This continuous investment in cutting-edge technology means that Axis Precision customers benefit from having their orders delivered on time and to a very high quality, conforming to ISO 9001.   

Axis Precision Ltd. has grown steadily, year on year, and profits have been re-invested into the business which has boosted the growth of the company.

NEW HAAS CNC MILLER TO PRODUCTION LINE  

For speed and quality Axis have recently added another CNC to its production line.

The HAAS VF-3SS high performance Super-Speed vertical machining centre delivers high spindle speeds, fast rapids and quick tool changes for high-volume production and reduced cycle times.

The improved spindle speeds and machine bed size is another benefit to Axis Precision. This will increase capacity due to quicker delivery of components to customers.

AXIS IMPLEMENT CAMWORKS  

Axis Precision have purchased and implemented CAMworks.

The software is an intuitive feature based CAM solution that has increased capacity by maximizing machining efficiencies through eliminating the manual development and inputting of machining processes.

The new software compliments the recent addition of Solidworks and gives Axis the ability to quickly generate programs from a customers 3D model or 2D drawings.

AXIS IMPLEMENT SOLIDWORKS  

Axis now offer design services with experienced industrial designers using the latest Solidworks 2013 software in 3D design.

The services range from reverse engineering, product design, work holding, jigs fixtures, visualisation and manufacturing drawings.


The new Solidworks software gives Axis the ability to quickly generate 3D models and 2D production drawings for customers.
